Notes are below in body of message! Rename a file or folder. 1. Within any drive on your computer, locate the listing of the desired file or ffolder. The item will be highlighted. 2. Either press F2, or choose Rename from the item's applications menu. 3. Type the new name, and press ENTER. Creating a new folder When you create a new folder, it is created as a child of the currently open folder. In other words, it becomes a sub-folder of the parent. To create a new folder: 1. Open the File menu, by pressing Alt F. 2. Move either up or down to the menu item titled "new". 3. Within this menu, move to the "new folder" option, and press Enter. 4. By deefault, Windows will have created a folder name for you, something like "New Folder". Type a more meaningful name for the folder, and press ENTER. File types The different file types which are commonly used are: .doc, word processing .xls, spread sheets .mdb, data bases .gif, picture or graphic .MP3 Music or sound file Renaming a file Locate the folder or file you wish to rename, then, press alt and f for the file menu. Then, arrow upto rename, and press enter. Then, type in the new name for your file or folder, and press enter. Deleting a file Locate the file you wish to delete, and press the delete key, you will then be asked for confirmation, say yes. The file is then deleted, and moved to the recycle bin. Changing the attributes of a file to read only Locate the file you want to change. Pres alt and F for the file menu. Up arrow to properties, and press enter. The first option is a check box, which says, read only, if not checked, check it, tab to ok, and press enter, the file is now change to read only. How to sort files in descending order First ensure that you are in the list of files. Then, go to the view menu, by pressing alt and v. down arrow to arrange icons by, and arrow right into the submenu.
