Well, this is a mighty bunch! This will make Nama's project management a powerful system! As for your questions: I think Mixdown tracks shouldn't have effects. But if it's a bigger effort, then I'd be all for leaving it the way it is right now, for the time being. Saving state has always been a very short process here. I think might not yet have had projects, which can be considered really big. In any case, it has always been much faster than some engine reconfigurations. So by all means, use git for undo/redo as well. It's always worth having those two around, especially, when it's gravy. :-)
