[nama] Backward compatibility

Hi Fellow Namites,
I've tagged the master head before persistence changes as
Rosetta. That's what you should prefer to check out to read
ancient Nama projects, to store them in a modern format, or
to batch convert old projects.
With that remaining as a bridge, I think this might be a
good time to begin to remove backwards compatibility baggage from
what will be the new the mainline persistence code.
The new persistence changes I'll first pilot in a development
branch. Ideally, I'd like some testing before I merge them into
master.
