[muglo] upgrading to Tiger

I have recently purchased a new iMac intel which came with OS 10.4.6.
I wanted to update my older eMac from 10.2.8 by using the  install  
discs that came with my new iMac.
When I click install my screen goes grey and has garbled coding on  
it. Do I have to purchase the newer OS 10 even I have it with my  
iMac??!?
Any ideas?
