Theresa, thanks for the Source by Circuit City info you posted to the
list this morning.
I did some more research regarding the Olympus DS-2 voice recorder I
mentioned on the list September 19. It's $149 CAD, and appears to be
the least expensive Olympus recorder that will store digital
recordings to a PC for archival purposes. However, I know of a Mac
person who uses the Olympus WS-300M, which appears to have many of
the same features and is $129 CAD. The WS also stores music.
However, the DS series is supposed to have better quality sound.
Both recorders use the same kit, PC transcription kit AS-2300, which
includes Mac-compatible software (OS 9 or later), foot pedal and
stereo headset. However, the kit is $199.99 CAD. Apparently, with
this kit you can type into Word while operating the foot pedal.
This would be a huge financial expense, although I suppose over time
a lot of money would be saved because of not having to buy cassettes.
But, Theresa, if you find that what you get at The Source works just
as well for less money, please let me know. I'm exploring all
options before taking the plunge.
Leith
