From anything I have ever been told, there is no actual
static IP address. The sending site allocates an IP address when you
visit, it doesn't originate from your own computer. It sounds like
you have a "glitch" on your computer, and being a Mac it should reset
itself if you do a shutdown and restart. The other possibility is a
bad connection, even though your ethernet says it is O.K., it may not
be. This could be as simple as an external plug not making contact,
maybe a bent prong, to a loose solder connection inside. I'd check
out everything else first...Doug
