I have the same CPU, but running 10.3.9. In August, Alan Pomfret
made the very valuable suggestion that I should try resetting the PMU
chip, which has helped tremendously. The instructions are in Apple
Article ID 95037. A picture of the G4 logic board that shows exactly
where the chip is is in Article ID 95035.
I did a clean install in early November, and a lot of the previous
problems seem to have disappeared (fingers crossed).
