If I was starting over building my photo library I would buy Lightroom
I think it is much better at organizing large photo collections than
iPhoto. It will keep track of photos that you have on external
drives, burned to DVDs were iPhoto requires you to build one library
which is limiting when you use a laptop. With Lightroom it is
possible to have the bulk of your photos on removable media but still
have access to the thumbnails even when you are away from that hard-
drive. It can also do basic editing and the great thing about it is
that it stores one version of which you can apply multiple crops or
other adjustments, iPhoto would store each version as a separate
files. I wasn't aware of any problems with Bridge but then I have not
used bridge much.
I might still buy the program but it is not a priority at the moment.
