if you select the file and hit Command (Apple) I to get info, what
does it say?
is there a file extension which is hidden?
I suspect the picture is placed inside a Word file, which is why Word
Test Drive wants to launch. I get this from clients all the time.
Can you open the file with TextEdit? If you have Pages (iWork) you can
open it as well
If the file extension is JPG or TIF, then you can open it with Preview
