Hawk,
    I have been using skype to keep in touch with colleagues outside  
the company mail system. We use it cross-platform and have no  
problems. The video tends to be a little more skittish than i-video.  
You can call outside of the skype network, but it will cost you  
starting Jan 1. Skype to skype chats however, remain free.
