[muglo] os9.2.2.2 and DNS problem

Beige tower G3 running os9.2.2 has lost it's internet connection. 
Cannot send mail, cannot get iCab to connect. All cables are connected. 
This seems to be a software problem, and I have two difficulties.

If I could fix the DNS server problem - if I could find out what the 
problem is - I could fix things. Have deleted all appropriate prefs 
file, rebuilt desktop, zapped PRAM, have run Tech Tool Pro 3 on the 
computer. (can't find DiskWarrior aaaargh)

As nothing has helped through that frustration, I have tried to 
reinstall os9.2.2  but every installation attempt stops with the dialog 
asking about the "Apple Extras" folder - which I have deleted. It 
doesn't exists, yet the installer tells me it does.

How to fix this?

  There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in.
