Hi Tee,
No, this is an issue that has been showing up in my e-mail for years. I use
a little utility called SmartKeys which does some nice type functions, such
as smart quotes in all applications and double hyphen giving me a long dash=
,
it prevents accidental double spacing, gives proper ligatures and prevents
double capitals in a row, unless you hold down a function key. I think that
there are some systems/software that do not handle the extended ASCII codes
properly and substitute letter codes in place of the correct characters. So
I have to <<stop being short>> with people and use uncontracted terms, for
those systems that do not handle it. Of course the utility does allow me to
turn its function off for any application that doesn=B9t like it, but I never
took the time to do it. Sometimes I use the French quotes << >> instead,
since they pass through okay.
Hope that answers your question okay, Tee.
