More memory won't fix these problems unless you combine the memory upgrade
with an upgrade to OS X (96 MB is enough for OS 9 and 8.6)!!!

PS If you drop a 128 MB stick into the machine the max you'll get is either
160 or 192 MB of RAM (depends on whether you had a 32 or 64 MB iMac) unless
you replace the other stick as well.

Upgrading to OS 9.1 or 9.2.2 will fix some of your problems. USB is much
more stable under 9 than 8.6!!!

But, make sure you do a clean install, and a clean install of everything.

Eric.
