I'd say ALSO get iCab 2.7 for 68K (<http://www.icab.de>).
It's light-years more advanced than NS 4.08 (has ad and java-script
filtering option (no irritating pop-ups if you so desire)... great for modem
users), faster than NS 4.08 on a 68K and has a _much_ smaller footprint,
both in RAM and on disk (yes, iCab is a currently shipping browser yet has a
smaller footprint than NS 4.08). iCab 2.7 for 68K is a 1.4 MB download!
iCab's JavaScript and secure website support is pretty robust now. I can
access www.preschoicefinancial.com and www.hotmail.com without any hitches.
(of course, you want to set iCab to tell the world it's MSIE 5 (many
websites aren't very happy if you tell them you're a NS browser))
PS It *may* access secure web sites on a 68K (can anyone confirm). I'm not
sure if it's a PPC only-feature but the 68K code (running on my 9.2.2 G3)
allowed me to access a secure site (I had to go into iCab and change a
preference (Network: Internet Protocols) to tell it to do HTTPS pages).
Whenever I used to use my Quadra 700/20 I'd use iCab 2.6 (2.7 current as of
a few days ago) as the primary browser and only fire-up NS if I ever needed
to login to a secure web site.
HINT: RAM disk
PS You can _really_ speed up your old computer (fast 68K or slow PPC) by
employing a RAM disk. I had set up a 2.1 MB RAM disk and set iCab 2.6 to use
a 2.0 MB disk cache on a 6100/66 40 MB. It roughly doubled computer
responsiveness, even with a million windows open on a 26.4 modem connection.
