Transferring LPs (or CDs) to MP3s is a perfectly legal and sanctioned
activity here in Canada, provided you don't turn around and sell the
LPs (or CDs) (destroying them would be morally acceptable too...
selling them is theft... giving them away would be no different from
illegal file sharing sites).

Buying these illegal MP3s from Russian criminals is not a victimless
crime in that both the artist & affiliated industries and the Russian
public who suffer at the hands of well-funded criminals suffers.

I am virtually never prone to public moralizing but I feel this must
be said, PUBLICLY!

I am disappointed that a discussion was had here on MUGLO on how to
facilitate completely illegal activities which financially support the
criminal element (albeit in another country).

To disagree--based on principle--with copyright and/or profit motives
is defensible and admirable, but under no circumstances does it
sanction activity that is wholly illegal in Canada and run by a
foreign criminal element. allofmp3 isn't one of those "technicalities"
which exist because we (as Canadians) are allowed to back-up the music
for which we have already paid (like file sharing is currently). What
they are doing is plain and simple theft and I highly doubt you'll
find a single Canadian ARTIST who supports what they're doing (which
is selling stolen music on the internet without the consent of the
ARTIST involved or for which the ARTIST (or anyone affiliated) is
remunerated).
