I have solved my problem, thank you. someone may want to know the
solution, so I will tell you although I am embarrassed to do so. At the
top right corner of the opening Camino (not Cararo) screen under the
digital time is a rectangular button with rounded corners. Clicking it
produces the missing line for entering web site addresses and the
back/forward buttons. I don't know how I missed trying that button
before.

Hi William,
Do you have a "View" menu where you can choose a Navigation Toolbar
or something like that? If so, you should make sure it is selected /
checked.
I've not heard of Camero. Do you mean Camino? http://caminobrowser.org/
