Thanks for the response. I was just down at Best Buy talking to their  
Mac expert.
She concurred with your recommendation of keeping the Address Book,  
etc synced using .mac. She also thought that using iDisk or Web  
Gallery would be a way to distribute photos between two instances of  
iPhoto.
My internet connection isn't fast enough for uploading/downloading  
graphics so she recommended using a thumb drive to move the files  
between the two machines.
I will keep you informed if I find a better method.

FYI I was just at Staples and they had a 2G thumb drive for $29.
