Wrong! AAC is a standard MPEG file, developed by Dolby, Fraunhofer
(which is the same company who owns the MP3 format), AT&T, Sony (yes,
you read it right) and Nokia.

Wrong. I use Linux and I have a software that can encode AAC. Also,
there's a very nice utility for Windows called CDex (the best track
extractor in any platform) which can also encode AAC files from CDs.
Remember, it's an international standard file.
