One more attempt regarding Safari:
If I understand this correctly, when you open Safari, it opens with  
Google. Why not have Safari open with another page if Safari allows  
you enough time to make a change?

I have set it up so that it opens with my Bookmarks page. I like that  
because I don't have to look at advertising and other junky things.
