>Can anyone recommend a good camcorder that they recently purchased
I disagree with everyone so far about their recommendations,
sort of. My wife and I went to Australia last fall and I purchased a
JVC 30 Gig.HD camcorder before we left. The great thing about it is
the ability to record 7 hours at ultra fine before having to
download. The last I heard it takes 3 of the recordable disks per
hour of recording. The advantage with this camcorder is the financial
savings for media that you don't have to spend if you are going on a
trip, plus how and where do you store the media 'til you get home.
You can preview your shots and erase if you don't like it, download
by Firewire directly to a computer, hook up to a TV directly to view
before processing, etc., etc. The biggest draw back was the battery
capacity, at only 120 min for the big one. We had to recharge a lot
to shoot 7 hours of video a day before we could off load to my
computer at night. The quality of the video is superb, and it also
takes still photos. I think this is available at Mostly Digital, if
not, then that 2001 Video store near Wellington and Southdale has
them...Doug
