Either button will function as a click in OS 8/9, and OS X is smart enough
to be able to take advantage of the two buttons. If you want to, under OS 9
you can use USB OverDrive to program your USB mouse buttons/scroll wheels to
do pretty near anything (& I think there's also an OS X version).
PS I'm quite happy with the two-button/scroll-wheel optical mice from M$ or
from Logitech.
