Thank You,

Thanks for volunteering, Terry. This is exactly the sort of thing that makes
the difference between a pro forma organization and one that actually
functions. I'm sure somebody will be glad to take you up on the offer.

Anyone else own a car that has more than one seat?

Okay, now . . . on the subject of volunteering: we have one person so far who's
interested particularly in learning more about iDVD and iMovie. Any experts out
there who know their way around either of those, or at least enthusiasts who've
played around with them a bit and might have a tip or two to share (or
something to learn)? Neither of 'em is my thing, although I've got both, and
will try to mug up some basics on 'em before Thursday, but if there must be
more than a few members who are committing their home videos or travel shots to
multi-media disk form and would be willing to show us how they do it.

My own experience is in writing, editing, page design and publishing, so I work
largely in InDesign and Photoshop these days, with occasional forays into
Illustrator, OmniPage and Graphic Converter. I've also spent years working with
QuarkXPress and once considered that I'd learned pretty mujch everything there
was to learn about Pagemaker (just about the time Adobe killed it, but I know
many people still have it). My wife's a musician, who hates computers but likes
the things they can do for her, so I've also had to prospect around a bit in
iTunes and GarageBand on her behalf.

Here's the thing: We all have different uses for our Macs -- different
interests, different expertise, different levels of experience. Some of us may
know a good deal about these few programs that we use constantly, but have a
notion we'd like to know more about these one or two others that we've never
delved into. Meetings like this are an opportunity both to share tips on the
stuff we know and to get tips on the stuff we don't.

See you there.
