Hey Eric man .... I have the same amount of ram as you do - it's a 
popular number!  Heh ...576M.  My problems finally got resolved. Ya 
know what it was? The version of 9.2 I was running was not a 
'localized' version....therefore the US updater would not take on it. 
I went back to 9.1, did a clean reinstall, then updated directly to 
9.2.1 and ran the last updater on that - 9.2.2. After that, the 
installation of 10.0.3>10.0.4>10.1 was a snap and it's soooo sweet to 
be on a more stable OS. My propensity is to crowd in every 
third-party audio and graphic application on I can afford and 
...well, it plays heck w/the extensions at times....
