Another question/comment:

How much RAM do you have? Running OS X in anything less than 192 MB is
suicidal! The more RAM you can give it the better. The limit on your PB (G3
Firewire? = Pismo) is 1 GB so jack it up as high as you can afford to. 256
is Ok but I would recommend 0.5 GB if you can afford it ($150?) [my G3/450
desktop is quite happy at 576].

BTW Install every 10.1 upgrade that you can through the Software Updates
menu (if you have a 10.0 install disk get the 10.1 updater CD and update).
