We were in Ottawa for the weekend, while there I paid for a Internet
connection at the hotel, $12.50 plus tax, so I figured after checking
and replying to e-mail to put that to use and downloaded a movie. The
movie was large (1.6 gb) and basically took overnight to download the
connection seemed to top out at 120 kb/s My wife watched it during
the drive home Sunday afternoon and she said it was better to watch
the movie on the iPod Touch than she imagined it would. I watched a
portion of it on my MacBook Pro tonight and the video quality seemed
as good as any DVD I have watched on the computer, the sound was of
good quality as well. I would do it again for a flight or maybe if I
knew that I was in for a day that involved a lot of waiting but I
doubt that it will become a regular part of my entertainment spending.
At home my internet connection is just a bit faster than half of that
at the hotel so it would take even longer to download but at work it
is 5 times faster than the hotel's so I could download it a bit
quicker there but that would take away from the spur of the moment
attraction of renting the movie over the net.
