I know in iTunes there is a simple way to do this under View click on  
show duplicates but I don't think iPhoto has that.  I think just  
having a feature that deletes duplicates could be dangerous, often I  
have different crops of the same photo kicking around and I would like  
to keep both.  If you sort your library in ascending or descending  
order the duplicates should at least be next to each other and then  
relatively easy to cull.
