I've come to the conclusion that CD-writers on USB are simply too unreliable
for 100% reliable use. I've used a Lacie 2/2/4 (which I now have again...
simply for backup purposes... it's better than nothing), and an Iomega 4/4/4
(actually 8/4/8 or something like that but that's only if you use the
firewire interface).

I had an el-cheapo $75 24/10/40 Sony IDE in my B&W when I had it and *never*
burned coasters, even on the cheapest of cheap media.

I guess if you don't have another choice USB 1.1 is better than nothing, but
if you can go another route, I'd avoid USB altogether (perhaps USB 2.0 is
better). Of course, most drives are FW now :)
