[muglo] Re: file corrupted

Preview wouldn't touch it, Doug, nor would any other program in my
arsenal. But TextWrangler, which I'd never heard of, opened it
instantly. Thanks.

I've still got a problem, though.

TextWrangler lets me see all the text in the file (it looks to have
been a Pagemaker 6 creation), but getting that text extracted and saved
in a usable form is the devil of a job.

There appears to be no export function. I can copy the text (excluding
all the formatting code before and after) and paste it into TextEdit,
but it won't stick; I save the resulting TextEdit file, close it, then
reopen it ? and it's blank. I can't paste into InDesign at all.

What does seem to work is opening the corrupted file in TextWrangler,
copying and pasting the text into TextEdit without saving it there,
then copying the text again from THERE, pasting it into a second
TextEdit file and saving that.

I'm grateful to have been handed any way at all to save those pesky
file, but I wonder if TextWrangler offers a more efficient way to do
it.
