I have the same problem. If I don't connect at 4800, if it's at an 'unknown'
rate, i can't get thru. I'm with uniserve although I think they've been
bought by someone else for the umpteenth change. Went thru the list of
people trying to help but they had only one who was familiar with Mac. After
many tries at fixing it I was told maybe I should re-install the internet
software, etc. Bottom line? I'm just dealing with it. What's as frustrating
as not getting connected is getting disconnected in 10 or some minutes all
the time and having to go thru the same thing again. Oh well, at least I
don't get any busy signals like they do on AOL. jim
