Doug, create a file on your desktop labelled 'To be deleted', and drag
all of your no-longer needed files there. While having just the
desktop open, open Time Machine. You should see a cascade of 'Desktop'
windows. Select your 'To be deleted' file and then click on the gear
icon in the front desktop window. One option should be: Delete all
files in backup.
