Jim,
You have to open "deleted items" click your cursor on any item, press
"apple" and "A" together to highlight everything and then press delete. All
of the items should disappear. If you want to save any of the items do it
before you delete.

Maybe I wasn't clear - not surprising, of course. My Outlook Express has a
"deleted Ite" (items) folder. It holds everything I've ever deleted I
assume.
