In the USA there are many WiFi spots & I've used many of them. Most
Motels/hotels advertise their High Speed internet extensively in the
US, especially on the Interstates.
The Financial district of Central London, UK has extensive WiFi
coverage, which I believe is free, but elsewhere there are supposed to
be "T Mobile" & "BT" (British Telecom") spots all over, but when you go
to the sites you "Pay as you go"!! Yes Eric, they are referred to as
"WiFi" spots, but it appears that they are specifically geared to
"Blackberry" phones etc. ie Email, at least in the short term.
Apparently the advertising precedes the actual physical placement of
full WiFi, although the usual US type coffee shops & many MacDonalds
have fully functioning WiFi.
The UK sells a lot of "World Phones", something that has just begun
here.
