Wow. Mail does it _properly_ (alas, I don't really use Mail the way I
use other apps... I'll command-tab to it and command-h out of it
because I don't ever want to see it whiile I'm working in other apps).

Now, if only the engineers designing Mail would have an impact on
Safari and Word and Pages and...

That wouldn't do anything because Window/Zoom doesn't work properly if
the green button doesn't work properly (a la Safari). It's interesting
that I just discovered this feature _this morning_ whilst looking for
a solution to the problem mentioned below and you just happened to
mention it as well :-)

It shouldn't if the Dock isn't there (my Dock at the left side of the scree=
n).
