... and, despite all my whinghing, I already miss the British supermarkets 
for some things. Canadian prices are by-and-large lower (OJ - we pay in 
cents what they pay in pence - it's so nice to be able to drink "not from 
concentrate" again) but there is no reduced rack worth mentioning :-( and 
for exotic (especially Indian) foods the selection is pitiful (unless you 
like pasta, pasta, pasta with cheap sauces and/or frozen TV dinners). Some 
things are hyper expensive (here): hummus is AT LEAST double if not 5x the 
price (which shows you that there's some serious gouging going on on this 
side of the pond), £0.64 ($1.50) for 500 ml vs $3.99 for 250 ml regular, or 
£0.75 ($1.80) for 250 ml gourmet vs $3.99 or $4.99 here :( :( :( :( [back to 
having to make my own - now to learn how to make roasted red pepper hummus]. 
And, milk products there are even cheaper there than they are here (of 
course, they subsidise their dairy industry _even more_ than we do here 
(perhaps the most corrupt and inefficient of all farming sectors given just 
how much subsidy they receive))... though, it is nice to buy milk in liters 
rather than *pints* (they're in transition between imperial and metric... 
the Irish are even worse (though, farther along in the transition to 
metric). They list distances in km on their roads but have speed limits in 
miles per hour).
