That will be a function of the OS you are using. Mac OS 9 was never
designed to work with USB, so, treat USB with care!

Do you mean?: if the USB floppy drive is attached to the hub the iMac
refuses to boot. Or, the floppy drive won't mount on the iMac when
Panther (OS X 10.3?) is running?

FYI Mac OS X may not support floppies anymore. I can't remember
whether or not OS X supports USB floppy drives.

To which computer are you referring? The 8500 with the PCI card or the
iMac (which Rev? or speed?)?
