If this is just for file transfer, you could simply buy a crossover 
cable, walk your ibook up to the third floor and connect the two 
together using the ethernet port.

On the other hand, if buying a long cable running it though the walls 
is not convenient or practical, you could, (oh-no here we go again!) 
consider going wireless.

While I understand the devotion given the price of of investing in 
Zips, they do seem to be a bit of a dead horse these days. You might 
also consider burning CD's If you don't have a burner, I have an 
external one I used on my 233 G3. It's slow (4X max burn rate, but it 
works and you can have it if you want to come get it in Kitchener. You 
can probably find one locally for less then the gas it will cost you to 
come get mine.
