I think you'll enjoy it, especially the pubs & clubs. Most don't go to
the pub to drink heavily as pubs are really social clubs, a place to go
to meet people.

What "Perma-rain"?? Even Doncaster is often quite sunny, although there
can be heavy accumulations; for the UK; in the nearby Pennines & Dales.

That's highly debatable, especially the "half" bit.

When I arrived here in 1964 metric was nowhere in sight & it took years
for the average Canadian to accept metric, if indeed they ever have.

Once again somewhat off base. It was Quebec ministers that powerfully
lobbied to prevent going all the way at once; a sort of anti France
thing. You wouldn't believe some of the discussions I had as part of
Brian's team.

Well, you could always teach school as they are desperate for teachers.
Unfortunately only one of my school mates lives anywhere near
Doncaster/Leeds, but she tells me that they have done a very good job of
reviving Leeds town centre. My balliwick is London, Kent, Oxford, West
Midlands, north half of Wales, Devon, Somerset & Cornwall.
