I, too, am having problems but they started when we had a tornado go through
(from Glencoe/Newbury area) and there was a loud bang outside my [farm]
house.
  My water heater went on the frits, my cordless phone was fried, several
phone cable lost conductivity etc so I thought my problems are related to
that event.  I experience the exact same problems you are experiencing:
connection lost, 5 or 6 attempts before I can log on . . .
I have a friend who got Sympatico internet several weeks ago in the
Brantford area.  Her emails always go out without the .ca at the end of her
email address so many receiving computers don¹t accept them. After many
calls to Sympatico¹s tech people, and many fixes, they say it is fixed but
it really isn¹t.  Recipients are still not receiving her emails.  She has
sent 10 to me in the last six weeks.  I have received none.
