Hi Tim,
Yes, it is Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.
Regardless of whether the HD was reformatted just before you got it  
or not, you should still have reformatted and clean-installed the OS.  
That way you KNOW it's done right ;)
Then before installing ANY software, I'd run Software Update to make  
sure any OS glitches are done with.
When installing your apps, you used the full installers, correct? Not  
just drag-n-drop the files from one Mac to another.
One other thing that may cause problems is RAM. Make sure that Best  
Buy used the proper spec'd memory, and that you have enough of it.
It also may be that OnyX is causing problems. I'm not familiar with  
it, but a lot of times, systems slowdowns can be traced back to  
freeware utilities. I know that personally I have had slowdowns after  
installing so-called "productivity enhancers".
