[muglo] Re: Should I go for it

Hi Greg,
Yes, you will have to buy an Airport Extreme card for it.
$59 CDN from http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/
canadastore/
or $49 for a refurbished one (scroll down to where it says "SAVE" on
the lower right)

You should get as much memory as you can afford.
According to the specifications page
http://support.apple.com/specs/ibook/iBook_G4_Early_2004.html
http://everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/stats/ibook_g4_1.0_14_2.html
that model supports up to 1.25Gb of RAM, with 256mb "onboard
RAM" (soldered to the motherboard) and you can add one chip up to
1Gb. Shop around though. You don't need to buy the RAM specifically
from Apple or even from an Apple reseller. It uses pretty standard
RAM, although you want to make sure it meets the specs on those pages.
PC2100 DDR SDRAM (266MHz) ... Even Staples and Futureshop and Best
Buy sell it (although you can do better than them on price and
definitely better on customer service)

Just my $.02 though. If you're looking for a Mac laptop to get your
feet wet, this would be a good machine. And for your 11-yr-old, it
would be an awesome machine.

Chris
