[muglo] Should I go for it

There is a iBook for sale (see below).Price 300.00 CDN.
I'm new in Apple world and would like to start somewere.
I'm thinking about bying this as a trial model and than if I like it go for Mac 
Book Pro and this one will go to my 11 year old son.
Any comments.
