I have an Automator Action that will do the TIFF saves, another that  
will make the file name change.

I don't have anything in my actions library to automate opening a  
bunch of files in Photoshop and saving them out as photoshop  
documents, so that they would automatically always magically open  
again in Photoshop. Doesn't mean it can't be done. I have Photoshop  
CS, not CS3. Some actions are built specifically for CS3. An  
Applescript could likely also do it.

It is possible to build an action in Photoshop to save out as TIFF. I  
don't know if this can be automated to repeat.

If you do build an action in Photoshop, you might have to sit there  
and press the button for the action to work. You can set a key  
command. I don't know if CS3 allows repeats or loops in it's actions.
