[muglo] Sept. meeting - Automator

There are a couple of things I'd like to learn how to do with one or
both these programs.
First, I'd like to be able to take a bunch of TIFF files, open each in
turn and convert it to a JPEG. I can do it already in Graphic
Converter, but the JPEGS created this way are set to open ever after in
GC instead of in Photoshop, which I prefer. It's a nuisance to have to
alter that setting for each new batch.
Second, I want to be able to rename bunches of photo files,
specifically changing them from YY-MM-DD titles to YY/MM/DD. I've got
years of photos filed in the latter format, but recent versions of
Photoshop have disallowed forward slashes in file names, on the grounds
that they're incompatible with Windows naming conventions. I don't give
a hoot about Windows compatibility, and in fact would prefer usually to
avoid it. The drill at the moment is to save photos with Photoshop's
YY_MM_DD titles and then rename them in Finder. That's very slow,
though, and I wonder if Automator couldn't save them batchwise with
some sort of search-and-replace routine, changing all underlines to
forward slashes.
