Received by me the other day from our corporate
telecommunications specialist: (I get very few alerts from either
our corporate IT or telecom people, usually they are right on the
money)
Please read email below from Bell Mobility.
Currently random Cellular phone subscribers through all providers
are receiving these calls...
ALERT:
A new phone fraud has been identified. The fraudsters leave a
message stating that it is urgent that you call them back
regarding 'a death in the family.' The phone number given is
usually an 809 area code.
The phone company has advised that any calls to area codes 809,
284 or 876 are pay lines, with charges up to $2,400 per call. If
you receive one of these messages, at home or at work, please do
not return the call.
Please note that the message regarding 'a death in the family'
can be easily altered at any time so be diligent in noting the
area codes highlighted above.
