[muglo] Re: SIGMA Special Interest Group for Media Acquisition

I recently successfully converted to DVD a taped copy of a TV movie. The
VCR was connected to a Sony Camcorder by an RCA cable. The camera
converted the analog signal to digital. The camera was connected to my
eMac by a Firewire cable. The movie was captured in iMovie and burned to
DVD in iDVD. The whole process took about 11 hours for a 90 minute
movie. the DVD-R was the Pine brand which I bought at Future Shop. They
no longer seem to carry that brand.

While it played fine in my two DVD players (Koss and Toshiba) the same
was not true for some friends who found it wouldn't play on their DVD
Players (Panasonic for one). Burning to a Memorex DVD-R solved the
problem for one friend. I had read that DVD players are sometimes fussy
about the brand used for reasons unknown to me.
