Have been using Entourage for about three weeks now. Fine program.
It was able to find and import my contacts lists, even old exported lists
which Apple's Mail never did do successfully. (I've rediscovered addresses
that got lost a couple of years ago and I had been unable to locate.)
The integration of the six features: E-mail, Address Book, Calendar, Notes,
Tasks and Project Center is very convenient (for those still working). They
seem to integrate and function well and are easy to manage (most functions
are easy to discover and figure out) The reminders are easy to manage with
lots of options.
My version of Entourage (v.11.0.0) allows the choice of messaging from the
top of the reply window (as you can see from this message). When in HTML
mode, I am able to change fonts and set the font size from 8 to 72 pts. But
when communicating in plain text mode for this list, then none of these
features are available. In HTML mode, I can also add pictures in the
background, add sounds (which I haven't tried yet) as well as a myriad of
other possibilities. There is a learning curve, but it isn't steep.
If you need/have the Office Suite then it is certainly worth using
Entourage... At least until something better comes along.

While I certainly believe that, overall, Apple can write better software
than MS, I am of the opinion that Apple's Mail, Address Book and Calendar
are not as complete or as well integrated as the Entourage functions.
But then again, they are not intended to do that. They give the
new/minimum-needs/minimum-budget user something to get to work with
immediately.
Office is a mature, sophisticated product which meets needs that the other
products can't match. Of course, there are lots of features that many users
won't ever use so like many things, it depends on your needs, your finances
and your patience to work without features that can make your life much
easier.
I think that it would be pointless for Apple to try to compete with MS in
sophistication in these areas. It would be re-inventing the wheel. I would
rather that they put their time and money into continuing to make the best
damn computer they can. That's why I buy them.
