[muglo] Re: RANT on Canadian imperial settings & politics (was Re: OSAutoconnect)

Hmm. I hadn't thought of that... but, now that I think about it, it has, on
occasion posed a problem -- now if only they'd make the /kg price the
prominent part of the sign and we'd be off to the races.

I guess for the stores everything in their system will be in kg since kg is
a more cost-effective and easier way of buying and selling stuff but on the
front end you have to deal with the hodge podge of /kg and /lbs. You'd think
that grocers would push for a uniform standard from suppliers right through
to consumers. They all do /kg on the receipt & behind the scenes &
supporting both /kg and /lbs is probably cutting into their bottom line
(just like French/English is a cost incurred (in the end) by consumers while
in a city like Toronto, Chinese/English or Italian/English or
Chinese/Italian/English (get the three dominant language groups in Ontario
;) would be a lot more logical and cost effective).

The vagaries of off-topic threads.

I must apologise to all for starting these threads (and, for perpetuating
this one).

Eric.
