I request my coffee beans in pounds. I still think-drive in miles, though 
I buy gas in litres and actually drive in kilometres.

Anyway, it depends on whether you prefer your measurement system to be 
based on a "pure, rational, scientific" measure... which has been 
constantly redefined. I think the most recent refining has metres based 
on a measure of the speed of light, or some measure of the vibration of 
atoms. Something we can all easily grasp :-) rather than the measure of 
human beings.

 There IS a place for metric's scientific precision. There is a place for 
a measure less precise an more human.

It bugs me to no end that my kids can tell time off a digital clock. 8:59 
isn't nine o'clock for them though.
