Don't run antivirus programs! Never have had a problem. Ran
Wormscan to check for your problem and it came back clean,

Gee Eric could you make your distaste for Mac OS 9.2.2 more clear ;)

I think I have the problem resolved without a clean install. I
think I had a slight conflict between a program called PopMonitor
and AW6. Deleted and re-installed the later, rebuilt the desktop
and then all my AW6 iconsd became CW4 icons but everything was
stable so I deleted the desktop database and then rebuilt the
desktop again once using TechTool Pro Lite and then on a reboot
just to be sure. Then I did it again using TechTools Pro 2.5.4
and voila everything is stable again.

Eric re: your point regarding OS X. I'm running a rev 1 G3
souped up to 266 (originally 233) and while I think Panther will
work using Xpostfacto (sp?) I'm contemplating a newr machine
before I do it, I find OS 9.2.2 very stable with only the
occasional hiccup, this past one being the first in about 10
months so OS 9 for me has been very stable. I run as lean a
system folder as I can with only key apps installed.

I have 3 other machines that I need to upgrade as well to X but
that requires money and that currently due to the season, the age
of my children and recent purchases is not on deck. Perhaps Kris
Kringle will be good to me this year!! Does anyone have a cheap
G4 >500 Mhz to sell? (Not just a good price but really cheap!! -
just fishing)
