[muglo] Re: Problems with G3

What computer are you running (there are a number of G3s)? Is it a Beige 
(does it stand, lie flat or is it an All-In-One) or a Blue and White? What 
OS version are you running? What do you mean with your icons are flashing on 
the desktop (i.e. does the Finder quit and open up again or is something 
else happening)? And what are you doing when your computer wants to type 46 
all the time?

If this is OS 9, chances are you've installed a third-party extension that's 
wreaking havoc with your system (if you want OS 9 to be stable you shouldn't 
be running ANY extensions... or any programmes for that matter). if you 
*really* want OS 9 to be stable, uninstall it and run only OS X. The OS 9 CD 
won't start breaking down for at *least* 10 years and that's about the only 
way I can dream up for OS 9 to be stable ;P

Solution if OS 8/9: Clean install!!! OS 9 is horribly unstable at the best 
of times and a clean install is just about the only solution to fix serious 
problems (OS X is rock-solid-stable... it's been September since I've had a 
crash (self-inflicted) and May since I've had a not self-inflicted crash... 
this isn't counting the times that I ejected the battery (accidentally) 
whilst the computer wasn't plugged into the mains... that's an issue that's 
outside of the control of software ;-).
